Meet our Count Almaviva, the young count in love with the heroine, Rosina. With the help of the barber Figaro, he cleverly outwits Rosine's guardian and wins Rosina's hand in marriage.
Fran Daniel Laucerica is a Cuban-American tenor excited to reprise the role of Il Conte d’Almaviva in Il barbiere di Siviglia with First Coast Opera, following his company debut as Silvio in Le docteur miracle in 2022. In the 2024/25 season, Laucerica will portray Poisson in Adriana Lecouvreur (Pittsburgh Festival Opera), Beppe in Pagliacci, Spoletta in Tosca, Rinaldo in Armida, and Thomas in Woman with Eyes Closed (Pittsburgh Opera). Additionally, he will serve as a tenor soloist in St. Matthew Passion (Madison Bach Musicians).
Recent engagements include Beppe in Pagliacci and Dan Leno (cover) in Elizabeth Cree at The Glimmerglass Festival, as well as performances as Arcadio (cover) in Florencia en el Amazonas (Opera San Jose), Gastone in La Traviata, Miles Zegner in Proving Up, Pylade in Iphigénie en Tauride, Die Steuermann (cover) in Die fliegende Holländer, and Il Conte d’Almaviva in Il barbiere di Siviglia (Pittsburgh Opera). He has also appeared as a tenor soloist in Messiah (Lancaster Symphony) and Alfredo in La Traviata (Virginia Opera).
Mr. Laucerica is a recent Third Prize winner of the Handel Aria Competition. In concert, he has performed as a tenor soloist in Carmina Burana, Bach’s Christmas Oratorio, Cantatas 8 and 12, Mozart’s Requiem and Coronation Mass, Puccini’s Messa di Gloria, and Handel’s Messiah.
