I am truly honored to join First Coast Opera as Director of Development and to serve a company that plays such an important role in the cultural life of Northeast Florida.
Opera has shaped my life in profound ways. For the last 15 years, I have had the privilege of performing professionally as a tenor and 6 years ago I expanded into the administrative side of the industry when I became the first Director of Development for Charleston Opera Theater in Charleston, South Carolina. These experiences have given me a deep appreciation for the many people who make the arts possible-not only the artists on stage, but the patrons and supporters whose generosity ensures that organizations like First Coast Opera can continue to inspire our communities.
At its heart, the work of development is about service and stewardship. It is about listening, building meaningful relationships, and honoring the trust that donors place in an organization they believe in. I’m excited to work alongside the supporters of First Coast Opera to help sustain the company’s strong traditions while also exploring new opportunities for growth and engagement.
In the months ahead, I look forward to meeting many of you, hearing your stories, and learning what First Coast Opera means to you. I welcome your thoughts and invite you to connect with me anytime at Edward@firstcoastopera.org.
Thank you for the warm welcome and for the vital role you play in ensuring that opera continues to flourish here in this extraordinary community. Together, we will continue to share the beauty, drama, and emotional power of opera on the First Coast!
