Award-winning singing-actress, Regina Torres, Little
Buttercup, (mezzo-soprano) wields her voice with equal acclaim in opera
and musical theatre. Her powerful and beautiful sound has thrilled
audiences in her portrayals of such vastly different roles as the gypsy Azucena
in Verdi's Il Trovatore and Rodgers’ and Hammerstein's Mother
Abbess in The Sound of Music. As a comedienne, she has brought down
the house as the Witch in Sondheim's fairy tale musical Into the Woods, and her spell-binding Ogress in Hansel and Gretel has frightened and delighted children of all
ages. Her other credits include Ludmilla in The Bartered Bride, La Zelatrice in Puccini's Suor Angelica, and Hansel with the Jacksonville Children's
Chorus. Ms. Torres received her Bachelor's Degree from the University of
Florida and a Performance Diploma in Vocal Performance from the prestigious
Indiana University School of Music.
