Regina Torres, mezzo-soprano

Award-winning singing-actress, Regina Torres, Little Buttercup, (mezzo-soprano) wields her voice with equal acclaim in opera and musical theatre.  Her powerful and beautiful sound has thrilled audiences in her portrayals of such vastly different roles as the gypsy Azucena in Verdi's Il Trovatore and Rodgers’ and Hammerstein's Mother Abbess in The Sound of Music.  As a comedienne, she has brought down the house as the Witch in Sondheim's fairy tale musical Into the Woods, and her spell-binding Ogress in Hansel and Gretel has frightened and delighted children of all ages.  Her other credits include Ludmilla in The Bartered Bride, La Zelatrice in Puccini's Suor Angelica, and Hansel with the Jacksonville Children's Chorus.  Ms. Torres received her Bachelor's Degree from the University of Florida and a Performance Diploma in Vocal Performance from the prestigious Indiana University School of Music.
