To expose children to an appealing story or scenes set to vocal music
To stimulate interest in this uncommon art form
The Program
The program is an overview of what
makes an opera:
Different voice types (soprano,
alto, tenor, bass) with demonstration of their qualities
How the elements of opera
(costumes, sets, acting, music) help tell the story
What makes opera different from
musical theater
A 30-60 minute program of
brief opera scenes are staged. Scenes are planned to engage the
imagination and interest of children of various ages, while demonstrating
opera's unique flavor.
