Jason Blanton, bass-baritone Jason Blanton, a Daytona Beach native, has performed at various venues throughout central Florida since the age of 14. As an actor, Mr. Blanton has excelled in comedic roles such as Frosch in Die Fledermaus, Charlie Kringas in Merrily We Roll Along, Groucho Marx in Minnie’s Boys, and Mr. Scruples in Mozart’s The Impresario, but has also engaged audiences with his dramatic renditions of Tom Joad in Grapes of Wrath and Mr. Dussell in Yours, Anne, a musical version of The Diary of Anne Frank. Mr. Blanton discovered his talent for singing while attending Daytona Beach Community College as a theater major. He began his vocal studies there with Dr. Norton Christeson and performed with a variety of ensembles in numerous concerts and recitals. While at DBCC, Mr. Blanton was recognized as a three time nominee for the esteemed Irene Ryan Scholarship, Theater Student of the Year, and runner-up at the Florida Community College Winter Music Symposium’s Young Artist Competition. Currently, Mr. Blanton is a junior vocal performance major at Stetson University and has appeared with the Stetson Opera Theater as Sam in Bernstein’s Trouble in Tahiti, Frosch in Strauss’ Die Fledermaus, and most recently Falstaff in Nicolai’s The Merry Wives of Windsor. Mr. Blanton looks forward to his senior year at Stetson and plans to audition for graduate programs in the spring of 2007.
