Dan Kerr had been involved in musical theater
for over 35 years before moving to Florida in 1996. Credits include Curly in Oklahoma, Charlie in Brigadoon,
Nicely-Nicely in Guys and Dolls, Charlemagne
in Pippin, and John Dickerson in 1776,
Woody in Finian 's Rainbow, Wong-Ta in Flower Drum Song, Oliver and Annie Get Your Gun, Carmen, Die
Fledermaus, Trial by Jury and The Desert Song. Seaside Music Theater credits include Amahl
and the Night Visitors, Fiddler on the Roof, La
Boheme, The Man who Came to Dinner,
H.M.S. Pinafore, Hello Dolly and Street Scene, Local
theater-goers may recall Dan and his wife, Rosemary, in
Irving Berlin's Puttin' on the Ritz at the Limelight.
At his summer vacation home in Maryland in
recent years he has played the Scarecrow in the
original Wizard of Oz, reprised the role in
a sequel, Oz Revisited; Kenneth in Call Me Madam; son-waiter-dance
instructor in Funny, You Don't Look Like a Grandmother; in
addition, every summer he and his wife perform with the
Murder Mystery Theater in Ocean City,
Maryland.
Dan and Rosemary returned to Florida, and he immediately got busy in the New Smyrna Little Theater
production of I Love You, You 're Perfect,
Now Change and the FCO productions of A Tribute to
Broadway, The Impresario as Mr. Angel, Amahl and the Night Visitors as
King Kaspar and the recent FCO Opera Selections to
raise money for the victims of Hurricane Katrina.
Dan stays active in the arts by attending
classes at
Daytona BeachCommunity College in voice, theatrical dance, trumpet and
vocal theater repertoire, as well as singing with the college chorus and a local
church choir.
